Matthew Talbot Homeless Services

Matthew Talbot  Homeless Services (run by St Vincent De Paul) is located in
Wooloomolloo and it is about a 15 minute walk from
St James Central Station and St Mary's Cathedral.

It is an  incredibly safe place that requires you to sign in and sign out through
secure jobs. If you are interested  in the soup kitchen roster, it basically asks you help pick up the dishes of the men who dine in Matthew Talbots  Homeless Service and to simply wash and wipe the tables down.

While this sounds a bit ordinary, it  really isn't.

The men at Matthew Talbot are very appreciative of your volunteer work there and my heart always melts when I hear
those two words 'thank you' as it reminds me that in something so small, I  am being of service to Christ and my fellow brothesr in Christ.

When volunteering, there should be another 3 or so other volunteers rostered on the list.
Additionally, if  you feel you want to go with a group of youths to better the  experience, CASS (see Catholic Organisations) is also rostered on at  Matthew Talbot's and they are more than happy for you to join them with such a great service!

Missionaries of Charity Soup  Kitchen

Missionaries of Charity soup kitchen is situated in  Surry hills, where the Sister's of Charity
resides.

Volunteers usually come at 10am and are set with  the task of cutting vegetables and fruit. The dining room is open at lunch and  about 20 young men and woman come for the soup kitchen. Here the sisters, read a  little bible passage and give a short homily on it.

Then  volunteers are back to work, serving food, plates and doing the dishes! It's definitely a soup kitchen that ensures that you've fully serving in all areas.

If you want to come earlier, you can join the sisters at 9am for rosary, adoration and prayers, which is a beautiful way to start the day and to remind you of how "God provides".

For more information, contact the
sisters directly. Please note, that they only service soup kitchen on the
weekdays.
